''Tierra de promisión'' es un canto a la íntima relación del poeta con el paisaje. Resultado de un tema poético que trabajaba desde muy joven, José Eustasio Rivera ilustró en este libro la identificación de su palabra con una naturaleza autóctona, cuyos rasgos podrían hacer pensar también en un territorio primordial más allá del tiempo, y donde su mirada vital de testigo de excepción se cruzaba con los elementos esenciales de ese mundo tropical, dividido en las tres inmensas zonas del paisaje americano: la selva, o también el bosque tropical, las montañas y las llanuras. Enmarcado, por lo demás, en el escenario de la tierra caliente, ''Tierra de promisión'' es también la recreación nostálgica de la geografía y los territorios afectivos de la infancia y la primera juventud del poeta en el recién fundado departamento del Huila.

Promised Land' is a hymn to the poet's intimate relationship with the landscape. Result of a poetic theme that he worked on from a very young age, José Eustasio Rivera illustrated in this book the identification of his word with an autochthonous nature, whose features could also suggest a primordial territory beyond time, and where his vital gaze as a witness of exception intersected with the essential elements of that tropical world, divided into the three immense zones of the American landscape: the jungle, or also the tropical forest, the mountains and the plains. Framed, moreover, in the setting of the hot land, 'Tierra de promisión' is also the nostalgic recreation of the geography and affective territories of the poet's childhood and early youth in the recently founded department of Huila.
