Publicada en 1960, La calle 10 es la novela de Manuel Zapata Olivella que tiene su origen en la Bogotá en la que vivió su autor cuando estudiaba Medicina y en el ambiente de miseria que reinaba en esos años y que serían el caldo de cultivo de la violencia que estalló el 9 de abril de 1948 tras el asesinato de Jorge Eliécer Gaitán. Ya en esta novela, en clave neorrealista, se insinúan las inquietudes que encausarían la obra múltiple de Zapata Olivella: la cultura popular, la desigualdad social, el mestizaje, el papel de la herencia afrodescendiente en la historia colombiana.
